I have collated my photography to date in a small book, just to showcase my work and also for my personal recollection of my imagery. I am extremely pleased with the finished book and plan to do a series of my imagery throughout the year.

I am now a member of flickr, and I have uploaded all my interesting photos to date. I plan to begin a Evening course in photography soon as I want to sharpen my skills. I have got a Nikon D3oo of Father Christmas so I want to get the maximum potential out of it.

Hello and Welcome to my Creative Journal,
I am a recent graduate of Blackpool & the Fylde College where I completed a BA (hons) in Graphic Design.
I collect my inspiration from all kinds of places and gather them in sketchbooks. I thought I would put all this random paraphernalia to use and see if anyone else takes interest in it like I do, therefore I created an online journal from it. Some of the objects may seem mundane to others but I find them visually stimulating and intriguing.
Hope you enjoy having a look through and comment at your will,
Helen

These are tickets that I collected from my many journeys on the metro in Madrid. They represented to me the Madrid’s reliance on the metro, and also the lines on the tickets symbolized the metro line in my eyes. Each metro ticket is individual to its journey, whether it be the code or the slight change in shade, which relates to every journey in life, with different people and different destinations.

This is a piece of tissue paper which a gift from a shop was wrapped in. I liked the use of typography and the traditional way of protecting and advertising in one.

This is a napkin I collected from a Tapas Bar called Lateral, I really like the logo and how it represented the logic behind the name Lateral with blocky right angle type.

I kept these toothpicks as I liked the ornate logo on such a mundane object, and also as it was my first initial ‘H’.

This is the sign created to greet me at the airport, I thought I would upload it to show thanks for all the effort put into it, and to showcase my friends creative talents.

I can’t actually explain why I kept these chopsticks, for creative analysis anyway, they just reminded me off a meal we had in Madrid. A lot of the objects I keep are as souvenir’s of an event or a place I have visited.

Recently I decided to raid my old family photos to reminisce on times gone. Whilst searching I found some photos that appropriated for more creative reasons rather than family memories. Probably not intended by my mother, the images depict to me derelict, lonely, depressed places which have glimmers of natural light, representing hope, on the horizon. The form of old photography which has created the thick black borders makes the images constrained and restricted to view, but I think this draws the eye into the images.

Whilst aimlessly wondering around an antique shop oneday I found a basket brimmed full of little keepsakes. I was amazed at how many memories were in that one basket, and how they could be bought for £1 each. Each keepsake had its own individual message and personal signature that the sender had left behind. It fasinates me to try and think whos hands have these been in and where have they come from. They each could tell there own little story.

Even though this isn’t found inspiration, I find it visually stimulating. I love the textures and accidental mark making that gives letterpress character.
